One thing that I regret most is that I didn't have enough chance or time to learn painting back at school before. I've been struggled a lot with painting techniques and colors. I've been trying to practice some painting on photoshop, and I realized that I need a custom brush that will fit my way of coloring. Here is one of practice paintings that I've done over weekend with my magic brush.

Lessons that I learned from playing my old favorite 90's game, SimFarm, today.

1. Living in farm must be boring for me.
2. After earning so much money from cropping oranges, I've felt so bored about simple life in SimFarm. Because I can only earn, not spend it for meaningful stuffs.

I went to Ssam Zi St. at In Sa Town, Seoul, Korea. I found a very interesting shop where they cut the stone and make you a name stamp. The works of designers were very fine and attracted me to buy one eventually. I spent about 45 dollars to get my name on that stone stamp. I asked the designer if he can make a english name stamp, and he said, 'sure.' This stamp is one of my favorite gifts that I brought home from Seoul. I like it a lot.

2009. 7. 29.

Shin Sa Dong in Seoul, Korea has many beautiful cafes, bars and art galleries. I could see a lot of artistic stuffs there. The street was very crowded with young people who dress very nice and look cool. I was very overwhelmed by surrounded atmosphere at Shin Sa Dong. I went there with my couple of friends who toured Seoul together. We sat at the balcony of one beautifully designed modern style of cafe, and I just had to record the moment on my sketchbook.

Wedding in Korea

During three weeks of time off from work, Dana and I had our second wedding in Seoul, Korea. It was a sun shine beautiful day, we had our ceremony in Korean traditional wedding style. Korean traditional wedding was actually fun, Dana and I enjoyed it a lot. Even though it was on friday, a weekday, thankfully many about 300 people came to congratulate us. I once again would like to give my regard to those our friends who made it to our wedding. During the vacation in Seoul and Hong Kong, I've done some sketches of people living in a different world and culture. I'll post up some of them on the blog soon.

G.a Band performance at my wedding reception

While I was editing my wedding video, I gathered all the G.a band footage and put them together on the Korean pop, 'Marry me,' which is what G.a band performed at my wedding. They are Korean American teenagers whom I'd taught at my previous church.

I thank you to G.a Band students for giving me and Dana such a great performance gift on our wedding day.

Mission Fundraising Night

I and Dana had went to Fire Fly restaurant yesterday in South Pasadena. They kindly opened the restaurant and donated 50% of the income for people who go to mission to India from Mosaic. I had this shrimp and gratis, a little pricy food. It tasted all right for me.

I've found these images that struck my eyes and heart. I couldn't stay away my attention from it. An Ethiopian boy is drinking a dirt water on the ground after a long drought. I feel so shame myself and sorry for the boy in Africa. I always think about my own needs with complains, and now I come to realize actually I have much and enough to share. I just can't believe or accept the boy is not having a joy to drink just some fresh water. Wow. I once again find my life is so grateful and thankful, and ask again, Am I Available? Am I available to reach out to that boy and help him. When everyone suffers from the bad econ., and tries to save even a penny on their pocket, am I available to spend my share for those who thirst and hunger. Am I available to share? ... I better take some action.

That dirt water fond reflects nothing but the boy's darkest day. Fresh clean water will reflect a crystal clear image of the boy, and maybe he'll find his reflection is saying how great potential and bright day he has...

Actually It's not a new military weapon for Japan. It's a giant life sized Gundam statue (or Structure) that Japan has finished to build at the park. The fact that Japanese actually made this sounds funny, but in other hand I'm amazed by their efforts to have reality beyond imagination.

There are countless words and stories in the Bible that have inspired me and moved me. (And by the way, at the moment that you've read the word, Bible. Don't boo yet, because sincerely I'm writing this in my artist point of view. It might sound interesting to ya.)

One of them that I thought most artistic and fascinated me is when God walked on the earth. Here's the story from the Bible, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... and... the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. (John 1:1 and 14) Isn't it so artistic? To me, it is. Holy and invisible almighty God didn't want to stay hidden behind, but instead, he became a flesh in a figure of his own creation, stood up with his own feet, touched the ground, and he deep breathed the air into his lungs, and saw the world in his creation's eye level. He didn't stay as the Word, but became a flesh. Just like my thought becomes an art work rather than speaking about it constantly, that divine creator thought of the world, craved to be with us, and then he made himself into like one of us.

Christ was like an art work to show expression of God's love to us. Rather than speaking to us like a science thesis paper that we'll read and never understand how to get close to our creator, he showed and expressed silently at the cross. So we may feel and realize the warmth of His love and an invitation to His place.

God is a divine artist. He shared a little bit of His talent to me that I can imagine and create just like he does. I'm grateful to be an artist. Christ told stories to capture our imagination and heart. One day, I also want to capture people's imagination and heart with great stories.

Few days ago, I've saw this 50's or 60's ordinary some store business man looking guy was taking a picture of the ad about erotic expo by his cell phone. He was looking around, making sure no one's seeing him. He was acting very cautious and careful. It made me laugh. I guess he wanted to have that sexy lady picture for his cell phone display. He probably couldn't just pass by after he looked at that lady on the ad, because it captured him as he thought that lady picture may fulfill his craving. So he wanted to make it last long by taking a photo of it, and he probably kept looking at it after. What a significant man's desire. I wonder if that photo actually kept satisfying him after for a while, or he found himself it's so meaningless, and it never has fulfilled his craving for joy in life...

Addict to Korean Drama, Queen of Housewives

These day, I watch this new Korean Comedy Drama, which is so addictive and hilarious. It's called, 'Queen of Housewives.' I don't really watch any Korean or American drama at all. I've felt those dramas with typical shots and stories makes me feel sick.

But this one seems different. I love the characters and casts in the drama. They are in this complicated relationship, and they make a quite interesting chemistry in the story.

Chun Ji Ae and Yang Bong Soon are high school classmates who did not have the best relationship with each other. Ji Ae was the most popular girl in school whereas Bong Soon was the girl that was always made fun of. Years later, their roles are reversed as Bong Soon's husband, Kang Joon Hyuk, is very successful whereas Ji Ae's husband, Ohn Dal Soo, is just an average company worker. Things get complicated when Dal Soo starts an extra-marital affair with his boss's wife, Eun So Hyuk.

Story and gags are very refreshing and inspiring to me, and once again makes me think how characters are important and crucial in the story.
